Icklesham Casuals 2nd team gained an excellent point on Saturday March 14 in a 1-1 draw against high-flyers Punnetts Town, writes David Mayne. On a difficult pitch, the Casuals adapted better at first with their more direct style of play, creating several early chances. Icklesham capitalised on one of these in the 28th minute when a flick from Joe Fraser (pictured on the ball, above) sent Phil Badrock running in on goal to slot the ball past the advancing keeper and give the side a half-time lead. 1-0 to Icklesham. Punnetts Town upped the pace after the break but created few clear-cut chances until two penalties changed the game. Having scored the first when Dan Carr converted, Punnetts Town missed a second later on, much to Icklesham’s relief. The game ended 1-1.
