Season’s best for Casuals

The 1st team of Icklesham Casuals produced what was probably their best performance of the season on Saturday to defeat Bexhill AAC 5-2 in what were extremely difficult conditions.

They started the game at 100mph and a good combination early on saw Joe Fraser, on his full 1st team debut, confidently slot the ball past the opposing goalkeeper. Despite the good start Bexhill equalised after the Icklesham defence failed to deal with a ball over their heads. Phil Badrock, back from injury, then turned the Bexhill defence inside out to restore the lead.

Icklesham again came out firing after the break and the ever reliable Rob Levett extended the lead with a far post header. Fraser then impressively struck his second goal of the game and Levett chipped the keeper from 35 yards to make it 5-1. Bexhill remained spirited and clawed a goal back late on.

A pleasing result with not only Phil Badrock but also Jack Davies returning from injuries and both looked sharp. A slight mangerial miscalculation meant five substitutes so many thanks to both Adam Sully and Nathan Chandler who stood in the rain for 90 minutes and were still smiling at the end….albeit maybe not at the manager!

The 2nd teams game away to St. Leonards was abandoned at half time with the score at 0-0. This weekend Icklesham 1st team are not in action whilst 2nd team entertain Robertsbridge on Saturday  November 21 with kick off at 2pm.
