On Sunday September 29, Rye’s own Timberlina and Dr Aspalls officially closed the 2019 Rye Arts Festival with a storming Sunday Soiree at the Queens Head.

The duo played a series of environmentally acute songs to a packed pub while extinctions occurred all about them. Members of Rye’s Extinction Rebellion lay down to represent the decimation the coral reefs, the burning forests of the Amazon, the disappearing glaciers and the near extinction of the northern white rhino.

The concert also acted as a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support. A local Ryer collected sponsorship to have her head shaved during the interval. The money raised on the night, and the sale of her long hair, will be donated to the charity.

The afternoon ended with a rousing sing-a-long of Without You, a homage to an environment being effected by climate change.
