Rye Players have made the sad decision to postpone this year’s panto.

As so many theatres begin to go dark again, Rye Players had to consider the fate of the town panto, due to open at the Community Centre on Wednesday, January 19.

Their committee met in the Queen’s Head (and yes, it was a business meeting), where they took the decision to postpone Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs until Friday, March 18.

The mandatory precautions against Covid were already affecting their ability to rehearse comfortably. Director, Helen Gray said; “We believe our show is best enjoyed with loud audience participation in a relaxed atmosphere. We’ll open instead on March 18 and will publish box office details in due course.

The costumes are ‘resting’ until March 18.

“Our costumes are currently ‘resting’ and we’ll be back bigger and brighter than ever. It’s a fantastic show, with amazing sets by Judy Wall and new artistic input from Isabel Ryan. Please save the date and have a wonderful Christmas in the meantime.”

The century-old group has weathered many a storm and they very much look forward to the show going on in 2022.
