It was only last week Rye News reported that The Waterworks in Rye had won a CAMRA award and this week we are delighted to confirm that another Rye business, the Devil in Rye has won not one but two national awards namely “Best restaurant” and “Chef of the Year” awarded to the owner and executive chef, Dev Biswal.

The prestigious ‘Asian Restaurant Awards’ are fiercely competitive with more than 100,000 public votes deciding on the short list of nominees before a panel of judges make their final choices. To win both awards against so much stiff competition is a significant achievement.

The awards were presented last Sunday, June 23 at the Manchester Hilton in a glittering ceremony. Congratulations to Dev, his wife Emma and the team at The Devil in Rye who have worked so hard to achieve excellence.

To celebrate their success Dev and Emma laid on a fantastic celebratory buffet lunch for local businesses on Tuesday attended by many locals who all enjoyed a superb feast, testimony to the culinary skills of this master chef and his fabulous team who all helped to make the event so special. The awards were on display in the foyer and the certificates took pride of place in the dining room.

The national media are already promoting this success story which will no doubt generate a further influx of visitors to Rye. This is not only great news for Dev and his hugely successful business but also for the town as a whole.

Interest in the restaurant is sure to spread quickly, be sure to book your table early and for those of you who missed out on the thali feast on Thursday (with live sitar music and henna tattoo demonstration) keep an eye on www.thedevilinrye.co.uk for news of future events.
