Where did 2025 go? This week’s paper is our last for this year as Rye News will be taking a break over the holidays, returning on Friday 9 January – although our social media never stops and neither does our comments section.
It’s been a big year for Rye’s local newspaper. We celebrated our 10th anniversary and year on year our readership is up by 20%. Thank you for reading and thank you for all your stories, tip-offs, ideas and comments.
Thanks also to the people who help pay for what we do. Whether that’s our advertisers, funders, or the many local people who regularly donate, your support is always hugely appreciated.
And to our team of brilliant volunteers, a big thank you too. From covering local events to chasing news stories, checking what’s being published to looking after all the stuff that happens underneath the bonnet, everything is done by volunteers usually working at kitchen tables on laptops of various vintages. A really fantastic team.
From all of us at Rye News, Merry Christmas and all the best for 2026. Whatever happens next year in our beautiful, creative, supportive, lively (and sometimes maddening) community we’ll be here to bring you more stories about the people who live, work and visit here.
We might have an answer about the Aldi too…
