A good crowd turned out for the tenth of the popular local series of Recycle Swap Shops – this time at Tilling Green Community Centre on July 26. Visitors took away items ranging from cooking pans and roller blinds to clothes and books. Much of what was brought but not taken by visitors was delivered to charity shops – 75 per cent was reused, and a further 15 per cent recycled. Visitors made donations which are used to cover the cost of renting the room for the event.
Since the series of recycle shops started, nearly 2,700kg of items have been taken by visitors and over 600kg has gone to charity shops, helping people save money and avoiding unused items ending up in landfill. Dates for your diary: the next Recycle Swap Shops are on Saturday Sept 6 at St Mary’s Centre, Rye and Saturday November 22 back at the Tilling Green Community Centre.
