Having just watched the dress rehearsal you are certainly in for a treat if you book to see Robin Hood and the Babes in the Woods this Christmas.
Rye Players’ treasurer Sandi Bain says: “If Covid taught us one lesson, it was to be adaptable, so when the usual venues were unavailable this Christmas, we seized the opportunity to go on the road with Robin Hood and The Babes in the Wood.
“The outlaw and his troupe will entertain families in nearby villages with a stripped-back touring production. Less glitz and glamour – more grit and clamour! And in the spirit of Christmas and Robin’s mission, the shows will benefit Rye Foodbank and contribute to our running costs as we plan our programme for 2024.
“We are delighted and gratified at the encouraging response. Our new venture does feel like a homage to the traditional roots of travelling players. The performance at Beckley sold out quickly, showing us that there is a demand for live theatre in rural communities. We’re looking forward to a spectacular run.”
Tickets are still available online or on the door for the shows at Tilling Green Community Centre on Friday evening , Winchelsea Beach on Saturday afternoon and Camber Memorial Hall on Saturday evening. Ryeplayers.com for details or email ryeplayers@btinternet.com.
