The Rye Pirates and Smugglers were back around the town on Saturday, June 28.

Ahead of August 9, the team behind Rye Pirates and Smugglers Day hosted another successful “come meet the team and get involved” session in the Tudor Rooms at the Mermaid Inn. It was a well-attended meeting with updates given about the current sponsors who include the Mermaid Inn, the Kino, Rye E-Bike Hire, Rye Hire, Rye Quayside Cars, A Rye Good Time, FT Group, Arracan Group and Bloom and Prune.

We were graced with the presence of the Mayor and Lady Mayoress Andy and Niki Stuart, The Sheppey Pirates, Day of Syn, Dan Lake from Tilling Green Residents Association, Simon Parsons from the Heritage Centre, Stephen Masters from the Rye Castle Museum, Judith Blincow from the Mermaid, Connie Woods (Ursula) and also Samuel Curtis (photographer).
We updated the attendees on our planned pirate walk route together with the intended schedule for the day and discussed other potential opportunities.
After the session the crew went around the town doing some promoting and getting a few photos with the local visitors: we were also accompanied by Ursula who will be at the Mermaid on August 9.
We have been totally overwhelmed with the support and encouragement from the local community and businesses. We have just over five weeks until the day and any business who are able to get involved please do contact us at info@brethrenofthesea.co.uk
We have, to date, achieved donations of just over £1,000 and we are actively looking for volunteers, donations and sponsors. Please do get in touch or visit our Go Fund Me page.
