Rye Lawn Tennis and Squash Club is holding its centenary open day on Tuesday, August 23 from 10:30am – 4:30pm.

British tennis legend Tim Henman is coming to the Rye Lawn Tennis Club with Dan Bloxham, head coach of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) Wimbledon on Tuesday, August 23, as part of the club’s centenary celebrations.

The dynamic duo will coach members and non-members on the open day, offering budding child tennis stars and adults alike the chance to play with Wimbledon royalty.

Close attention to Tim

Tim Henman says: “I always enjoy visiting Rye Lawn Tennis Club, having played there as a child with my family. I’m delighted to be hosting an open day, alongside Wimbledon head coach Dan Bloxham, to help get the message out that the club wants to make tennis fun, accessible and enjoyable for all the people who live in the local area.”

With the particular focus of the day being to encourage children to take up the sport, the club will also give away ten child memberships in a prize draw. The winners will be announced on the day.

Children (up to the age of 18) will be coached in the morning, with adults taking to the courts in the afternoon. The club coaches will also be available to children on the two padel courts.

All coaching for children is free. Coaching for adults is a minimum donation of £50. Spectators are welcome.

Numbers are limited so places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. To book your place, visit the club’s website.

There will be soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and snacks available to buy from the bar throughout the day, plus local homemade ice cream and WOW Cooking will provide hot dogs, burgers and pulled-pork burgers.
