April update from REG

Meetings Cancelled
The coronavirus is still with us and the restrictions on movement and gatherings look like they will be with us for a while yet. So regrettably Rother Environmental Group’s (REG) meetings planned for April 29 (Making Our Homes More Efficient) and May 26 (a talk on trees) have been cancelled.

Meetings via Zoom
However, this does not mean that the discussion has to stop. REG is therefore organising a presentation and discussion via the internet by way of Zoom. This will be on on Monday, May 4 at 8pm and the presentation will be on REG’s response to Rother District Council’s Environmental Strategy Policy consultation.

The consultation closes on May 18 and this will be an opportunity for you to review and build on REG’s response before submission. Joining instructions will follow nearer the day but in the meantime if you want to read the draft strategy and make your own comments the consultation can be found at here.

REG is also exploring whether other talks can be conducted via Zoom and whether a film can be shown followed by discussion on-line. In the digital age we may as well make technology work for us in these troubled times.

If you have an idea for an online discussion or event that you would like to bring to REG members then we would love to hear from you. Just email REG at: info@rotherenvironmental.org.uk.

Membership Renewals
A few people have yet to renew membership this year. While the programme has been curtailed by recent events we are still looking at ways that we can share environmental awareness. So any late renewals would be very welcome.

You can either send cash or cheques (£10 or £5 for lower incomes) to Nigel Jennings at 16 Love Lane, Rye TN31 7NE or make a payment direct to:
