I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like roast potatoes, do you? That distinctive smell is so recognisable, in the same league as Brut, petrol, fried bacon, freshly laid tarmac and pickled onions! It goes without saying that everyone’s mum cooks the best roast potatoes ever known to man, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, but prepare to be challenged, for there is competition out there. Intrigued, feeling peckish yet?

Well, here’s the challenge. There’s a roast potato competition this Sunday at Rye’s one and only, award winning Waterworks micro pub, from 1pm until 1:30pm. David Roder, the landlord will be there to welcome all, “just bring in your best roast potatoes and let the panel of judges choose the tastiest, crunchiest fluffiest and well seasoned roasties, (no Aunt Bessie’s!)”

The winning entry will receive a £20 beer voucher and all entries get a drink on the house and as David says, “this is the first one this year so let’s get peeling and roasting”

You’ve heard Ryebellion drummers performing at the Waterworks, its now the turn of the Maris Pipers to have their day. Music to your ears, why not enjoy a skinfull!
