Visitors to the annual Rye Museum Garden Party were able to enjoy their tea and cake in the beautiful surroundings of the lush garden belonging to Mrs Rae Festing at 11 High Street on Saturday July 9.  The sun shone on a variety of stalls, all manned and provisioned by the team of hard working volunteers. The lovely summer weather brought visitors from near and far, both locals and holidaymakers, all most welcome to help provide funds for the museum.

This annual event makes an important contribution to the Museum’s funds and we are very grateful to all who came and spent some money there, to the generous people who made and donated goods and prizes and to the volunteers who gave up their time to ensure the success of the occasion.  Last but not least, we are indebted to the kindness and generosity of Mrs Festing for the use of her beautiful garden and the kitchen facilities to provide the teas.

It was open garden also at The Old House, The Mint on Saturday July 9 in aid of the Rye and District Memorial Hospital. The garden is a real delight. Beautifully tended and looking immaculate, it is also a garden of surprises, with paths winding off and a secluded bower for quiet conversation. Jane Conlin served welcome refreshments, while back just inside the entrance, new visitors were being greeted by Trish Ashton-Cobb and her team at the fresh vegetable stall. The event succeeded in raising £800.
