Chillis were on the menu when Glenn and Robbie Hollands of Rye Spice showed off their wares in a weekend tasting at their new store on Harbour Road, writes Seana Lanigan. A prawn phal relied on the formidable naga chilli, one of the hottest known to humankind, but the lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka masala and vegetable curry were more user-friendly, especially when washed down with a cold beer. The shop at Rye Spice has been open just a few weeks, as previously the Hollands concentrated on the catering trade, supplying Scottish prisons and oil rigs amongst many other customers. They open to the public 7 days a week now and as well as 40 variety of chilli, they stock a huge array of spices, flavourings, chutneys, dressings, sauces and other flavoursome delicacies.
