The Rye and District Country Show on Saturday, August 22 at Elm Tree Farm, Icklesham on the A259 has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic – and it was an important fundraiser for St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards-on-Sea as well as being one of the major open air events in the area during the summer.

It usually featured show jumping, a dog show, classic cars, ferrets and terrier racing alongside a variety of displays and stalls and was a very popular event.

The hospice needs to raise many thousands of pounds annually to cover running costs and its shops, events and other fundraising activities will all have been affected by the pandemic. For details on how to help, go to the website.
