The British Medical Association has awarded first prize in its BMA Medical Book Awards “Basis of Medicine” category to Dr Andrew Bamji’s book “Faces from the Front.”

“There were 13 books in the category altogether. It’s a bit like the Oscars of medical books!” said the delighted author, a local resident. His book tells the story of the origins of modern plastic surgery as developed at The Queen’s Hospital, Sidcup, towards the end of the First World War and subsequently. This was the subject of Andrew Bamji’s talk at the Rye Arts festival last year. The full list of winners can be found on the BMA website

There will be another opportunity to hear Andrew Bamji talking about his book when he speaks to the Winchelsea 2nd Wednesday Society at New Hall, Winchelsea on September 12 at 2:30pm.
