Contractors for East Sussex County Council have been busy painting the lamp posts in the centre of town. H and H Painters of March, Cambridgeshire have spent a week wielding black paint brushes in the Mint, the High Street and the streets around the Town Hall.
I asked Luke Humby of H & H Painters whether the gold band at the top and the Rye badge at base would be reinstated in colour. His instructions were to repaint all in black, he said but he might be back if ESCC agreed to the cost.

Shame they didn’t sweep up after themselves, also a shame that ESCC don’t use local contractors.
