Last week, Rye News ran two stories, one entitled “Man’s body in A259 ditch” which related to a body found along New Winchelsea Road, the second article was entitled “Man missing in Rye” which related to Andrew Wren, a 53 year old man missing from the Lewisham area since September 28 this year.

It now transpires that the two reports had a sad connection which was confirmed on  Tuesday, November 5, as news was released confirming the identity of the body found in the ditch.

A spokesman for Sussex Police has confirmed that following a post mortem “The body has been identified as that of Andrew Wren, 53, of King Alfred Avenue, London SE6, and relatives have been informed”.

“A post mortem took place today (Tuesday, November 5) and the cause of death awaits further forensic tests. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s officer is continuing enquiries”.

  1. It’s always a sad time and I send my condolences to Andrews family and friends.
He will obviously have left behind a distraught family who have to deal with the aftermath and may well be feeling vulnerable.
With this in mind I question the wisdom of both the police and the press for publishing his full postal address including the post code.
    Why would you do that?
