Finally… some cricket

The weather gods continued their curse on the start of the cricket season last Saturday. Just as the team from Ansty arrived at the Rye Crickets Salts to play the 1st XI and the 2nds were meeting to depart for Eastbourne, the rain arrived. Washing out all games in the 1st Central Sussex Cricket League. That is four Saturdays in a row lost to the wet stuff.

The junior season has been more fortunate this week, although both games were played under leaden skies, with the pink ball shining like a beacon.

The Under 11s lost by 12 runs to Ashford A Under 11s. Charlie Cooke 20 and Luke Rogers 16. Charlie Cooke took two wickets.

The Under 15s v Wye achieved 85-7 off 20 overs. Then dismissed Wye for 26. James Archer 6-3, Nathan Paine 2-1, Olly Balcomb 1-2 literally clean bowling the opposition.

This Friday evening, May 12, the softball sessions start with All Stars 6-9 year old 6-7pm and Cricket Dynamos 9-12 years of age 7-8pm. These sessions are great fun and are the perfect introduction to cricket for boys and girls.

The girls only hardball sessions continue on Tuesdays 7-8pm and mixed hardball on Wednesdays 6-8pm.
