Treats and toys for youngsters in Ukraine

Malcolm Maynard and Barry Mills set out last weekend  for the Ukraine with a van loaded with supplies for the Ukrainian families who are in dire need of everyday basics and some treats too. Malcolm enjoys interacting with families and seeing the joy on little ones’ faces when they receive a toy or some chocolate.

Yesterday Malcolm and Barry visited a family with four children. Malcom explained: “Their mother had abandoned them and they live only with their father. Moreover, to add to their problems, their house caught fire some time ago. The Protection of Children organisation wanted to take the children into care as they did not have a home. The brothers from the local church joined hands to look after them and to rebuild their house. Construction is under way, but there is still a long way to go until it is completed. However, today the children enjoyed sweets, toys, clothes and games to lighten their lives. It was such a joy to see them so happy. It makes all the hours of driving so worthwhile when you know you have made a difference. Of course we can’t do this without the wonderful generous support from friends and family back in the UK.”
