Our town, our mess, our problem

We are lucky enough to live in a town which is special enough to attract many visitors from the UK and around the world – humans and seagulls. And we have a wide range of late-night takeaway food options for locals plus all the aforementioned groups – especially the gulls. The inevitable result is rubbish.

It’s a shame, but it’s almost inevitable that there will be mess. Do you think Rother has enough money/time/inclination to have a litter task force in Rye, cleaning up every day, throughout the day? Do you want to pay for this? Why not take a bag with you when you go up the road to pick up your daily paper? I am doing this twice a day (at least) on my regular stretch from the Globe pub to Costcutters. I will also clear up any litter I see in town. There are a lot of bins. It may not be our rubbish, but it’s our town, so it’s in our own interest to do the best we can.

Let’s deal with the litter first. After that, let’s kill the weeds and repaint the street signs where needed.

And after we have sorted this out, let’s see what we can do for the rest of the world.
