No vegging out at annual show
The annual horticultural show saw a bumper crop of fruit, vegetables, flowers and visitors despite the awful weather in the run up to the event. There were no obscenely shaped vegetables, but there was a smashing pumpkin and some rather confused tomatoes.....and former Councillor Nigel Jennings, who works for Natural England and advises on matters like relocating nightingales, swept the board.
Triple value in new exhibits

Luciaphiles gather round Mermaid
The good, the bad and the beautiful donned their smartest attire, polished their wittiest conversation and moseyed on down to the Mermaid for the annual gathering of the Friends of Tilling. Normal people watched, open mouthed as the elegant gentlemen and and brilliant ladies paraded in their furs, silks and badges of office. Responding to refugees’ plight
The plight of refugees has attracted newspaper headlines all week and locally a petition has been set up calling on local councils to welcome refugees, a vigil is being held at the Town Hall and shelters, sleeping bags and other equipment is being collected for sending to Calais camps.
