What’s in a name? The roundabout as you enter or leave Rye on A259 is affectionately known as the “Kettle o’ Fish” roundabout but when the fish shop changes its name and façade to The Strand Fish and Chips will the roundabout name change too?

Diamond Koz, the Turkish restaurant on Cinque Ports Street, has taken over the fish shop and Firat, known as “Fred” explained that at first the plan was to wait to open when the restaurant side was ready as well as the take-away but he decided to open the take-away first to encourage the people of Rye and its visitors to try their take on fish and chips. The USP for both places is to serve customers with the best quality food and to give good-sized portions. The comments on social media have been really encouraging and the word amongst townspeople so far has been really complimentary.

In a few weeks’ time, when the restaurant has been fitted out, there will be a grand opening but the team does not intend to rush: it has to be right. Keep an eye out on social media for the date of the official opening: the plan is to have a really fun evening.

  1. I wish the new owners the best of luck for their new business adventure.
Let’s hope the encourage people not to park the vehicles on the roundabout as they order/pick up their purchases as this practice is not only illegal but also extremely dangerous for pedestrians and motorists alike.
