Green blankets reach refugees

Earlier in the year, members of St Michael’s Church, Betchworth, delivered 700 green knitted squares to Rye, after dismantling their alternative Christmas tree. Members of St Mary’s Knitting Group used them to make 25 blankets which were sent to refugee camps in the Middle East in May, via the charity Samara’s Aid Appeal.

This week, it was great to see a picture of one of them actually being delivered. It was sewn up by Erica Britton, easily identifiable as she had included some coloured squares, too.

In the meantime, the knitting of blankets and sweaters continues, ready for the next despatch in January. Grateful thanks to everyone who supported our stall and raffle at the recent St Mary’s Christmas Fair and to Vanessa at Savia Gifts & Framing who continues to sell our Pink Pussy Hats (other colours available on request). It has enabled us to send £500 to Samaras Aid Appeal to help with medical aid.
