The amazing play by Deborah Clair, S.O.E Special Operations Executive, has been touring the South-East of England and the two final special performances are in Winchelsea on June 24 and 25. It is an important and timely story about two women, Vera Atkins and Noor Inayat Khan, essentially refugees, who fled war-torn Europe to fight for Britain and for freedom as part of  the S.O.E also known as “Churchill’s Secret Army” or “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”  tasked with espionage, sabotage and reconnaissance in Europe.

Gypsy John will be there to lead the jitterbugging after the show and if any of the audience would like to come dressed in forties costume that would be great! It sounds as if it will be a great evening.

The two performances in Winchelsea acknowledge that Vera lived there from 1962 until her death in 2000. It is a wonderful story which captures the spirit of these two amazing women who played a vital role in freeing Europe from the grip of fascism. We owe them and their counterparts immense gratitude.

The performance has been well received by audiences so far. Hastings was really well attended and they are close to selling out at Smallhythe. They were given this fantastic five star review at the Brighton Fringe: https://www.thereviewshub.com/brighton-fringe-s-o-e-the-rialto-theatre/
