Rye Bonfire Auction of Promises

The Rye Bonfire auction of promises, antiques and miscellaneous items will be held on Thursday May 19 at the Mermaid Inn. Viewing is from 7pm, the sale at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 including a glass of wine and catalogue.
Please support Rye Bonfire Society’s main fundraising event this evening by kind permission and support of Judith Blincow and the Mermaid Inn. We can announce that none other than Rye artist (and Rye Bonfire Society Vice President) Prince Rostislav Romanov described as “a Russian colourist” has donated one of his works to the Rye Bonfire Auction of Promises!

Prince Romanov has exhibited in London, New York and Moscow where he is in great demand. The picture is oil pastel and sure to attract attention from far and wide.  See Prince Rostislav talking about his history and art here.

Thanks also to the support of many local businesses and residents alike we have lots more fine items up for auction including the honour of lighting of the this year’s bonfire  (Rye Fawkes), a flight from Lydd airport, an overnight stay at a number of local B&Bs, meals at various establishments, short break holidays, a lovely scallop necklace, a carpet and fitting, various fresh hampers and some surprises and many more items – including cuddly toys!

Please follow the link to see the many supporters and local businesses that have given so generously this year!

Do please make a note in your diary and come along to support your Bonfire Boys in what promises to be a memorable evening.
