Hoteliers, restaurateurs and bed-and-breakfast hosts were able to  experience the Rye Town Model Show which ran throughout the evening  and were exhorted to “spend old pennies” on the banks of antique slot machines displayed upstairs.

The centre manager, Louisa O’Shaughnessy, gave a short welcoming speech and highlighted some of the changes to the product range including some exclusive new souvenirs and an extensive array of new books and maps.

She emphasised the importance of the relationship between the RHC and its guests’ individual enterprises.

Particular mention was given to the local accommodation booking scheme and the services offered that could benefit visitors such as audio tours, private guided walks and resources for exploring the area.

At her invitation the guests then mingled, discussed, chatted and browsed while enjoying a glass of wine and  some excellent canapés.

There is a similar start of season event planned for March 2018.
