Inspiration, recreation and solace

It has been another very successful year for the Friends of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a group of over 2,100 members who support the Sussex Wildlife Trust in running the reserve by raising money to protect wildlife, conserve the landscape and engage with the public, something we have been doing for nearly fifty years.

Cliff Dean, chair of the friends, said: “I’m mindful of the time, effort and expertise that our thirteen trustees have contributed this year in addition to the generosity of our many members near and far. Close cooperation between the friends and Sussex Wildlife Trust has resulted in the enormous popularity of the discovery centre, in the welcome it extends to visitors of all ages and the value of the social and educational activities which it facilitates.

“It’s a privilege to play a part in this fabulous reserve, set in a beautiful and historic landscape, which offers inspiration, recreation, and solace also, to so many in our community and beyond. To all that work in, and enjoy this special place, we wish a happy Christmas and many more friendly encounters in 2023.”
